Senior Grant Writer
Heather is the Senior Grant Writer at SecondMuse, working with the Growth team to secure funding that supports communities and builds inclusive economies around the world. In her role, she leads the development and writing of proposals in collaboration with domestic and international program teams, as well as a variety of internal and external stakeholders. This work also includes supporting the development of strong, compelling stories and technical content alongside the Marketing and Communications team to generate more awareness and resources for solving global challenges.
Heather is passionate about creating pathways for the private sector to become a force of good in marginalized communities. Prior to joining SecondMuse, Heather was the lead grant writer for an international NGO focused on poverty alleviation through finance-based initiatives. She was responsible for leading the development of private, corporate, and institutional proposals for programs spanning diverse sectors in low- and medium-income countries, including agriculture, education, digital finance, health, and women-owned microbusinesses. She has particularly focused on building grant programs that prioritize social outcomes and environmental responsibility while also generating positive financial returns for entire economies.
Heather holds an M.A. in Communications and a B.A. in Journalism from Pepperdine University. She currently lives in Chicago, IL, and enjoys traveling to escape winter weather, trying out new recipes, and exploring the outdoors.
